Clutter free desks

I have decided to try out some wireless devices for my home study. I have a Logitech wireless desktop keyboard (cheap and cheerful) and a fantastic cordless trackman wheel.

I am a great fan of the trackman devices. They allow me full range of movement of the cursor with little aggrivation of elbow or shoulder joints. The cordless version is just an extension of the concept - without wires of course.

The keyboard is my first external purchase of a keyboard. I usually get second hand ones, or stick with the one that came with my PC (only bought one PC in my lifetime!) Typing on it is not bad, though it does rattle a lot - not a soft touch keyboard and not as quiet as a standard mac keyboard. But again, its wireless and at aonly £18 its a fraction of the price of other devices.

My desk is now cable free. Fab.

Obviously it will be all french when the batteries run out ;-)

Glory glory...

Man Utd...

Yes, they finally won this year's Premiership title.

That little buddha machine

I saw this, and thought...interesting: http://www.fm3buddhamachine.com/site/?page_id=5

The concept is quite cool, preloaded machine with nothing more than an on/off button.

Music by appliance.

I learn today that Microsoft has abandoned its takeover bid for Yahoo!

This is fantastic, and a real win for open competition in the internet space. I urge yahoo investors to hold strong. The company has fabulous products, and it is taking time for it to determine how best to position them.

Funnily enough, in my role at my company, I 'see' opportunities for us to use Yahoo services, but to be fair - I have no idea how to get that dialogue going. There are many applications available, and I am more than willing to chat with a yahoo representative about these ideas. A large multi-national firm that is trying to go 'green' and 'scale up' can use yahoo services.

So, well done yahoo - keep going...look forward to your realisation that MACs are a platform for you to exploit!

Paranoid freedom

I am getting more concerned about what freedom actually is. Paranoid policy and a fear of russia, china, iraq, iran, korea, saddam, osama, insertevilnamehere, is changing our ability to live as we did.

See this as an example. http://www.memphisflyer.com/memphis/Content?oid=oid%3A41348

Damit i just bought a memory card for our holiday camera. Was it a waste of money?

And no, i am not pleased at being a random search at city airport where my mont blanc refills were regarded as darts and my transformers keyring misidentified as a laser. Ffs.
