Sunday Shopping Tips

Yes pop pickers, its that time again for The Num Num's shopping pick of the pops.

I picked up the new Ian Brown album Solarized yesterday. After an initial listen, I am not impressed. At least his previous efforts have had more than 3 songs I personally liked. This one, struggles to give me 2 to my liking!

I would imagine that there is something of a mid-life crisis going on there.

And thats it. Yes, I am becomiming frugal again, apart from shelling out on one of these (coz the Dentist recommended one to me Dad).

Other than that, not much else going on - glad to see the Semi's of the Cricket ICC CT as follows - "Aussies vs Us" and "Windies vs Paks". I still think its an Aussies-Paks final on the cards, as much as I'd like Flintoff to crack the ball about and win it!

Next week seems manic. Will be sure to update with the chaos. Be good!

Ian Brown as is knob. How do I know this? Because I am a massive fan of the Stone Roses and have been in attendance at a couple of his gigs (admittedly when he has been a support act - once at Glastonbury and once backing the manics). Both times he was awful, truly awful. The first time he made a big thing of grabbing someones George Cross, taking it up on stage and trying (and failing) to set it on fire. It wasn't a George Cross. It was something completely different. He also teased the crowd with the beginning of "Fool's Gold" only to tell the guitarist to "Stop that shite" and playing a dirge instead. The second time he was just an aggro gobshite. And that was when he was plugging a GOOD album. Awful.

    Never, never see him live.

Well, I say that, and then he does this:

    the bastard

I saw John Squire live once as well - proper singing and stuff, not with the Seahorses. Even he played some Roses stuff... pretty well actually.

Nothing will match seeing the Roses though - as I was lucky enough to do in their post-Reni phase but whilst John Squire was still with the band. They opened with 'I wanna be adored', 'she bangs the drums', 'waterfall' and then '10 storey love song'. Awesome. It went a bit downhill after that, but what gig wouldn't?
