New Car Stereo

Oh yes, I have finally replaced my broken Car Stereo. Can you imagine
it, I've been driving without any muzak for over 3 months. How did I
survive? I have no idea.

Anyway, they installer came this morning and installed it in a flash. I
now have the ability to listen to my mp3 cds. Coolio.

Tonight I'm off to the Asian Achievers Awards. I am hoping to see some
serious Gold Medal Winners there. Hold on, is Kelly Holmes asian? damn.
Well the Indian Cricket team are in town, so maybe they'll turn up. I
hear Rahul Dravid is the ICC Overall Player of the Year and the ICC Test
Player of the Year. Very good man, is that "Mr Wall". Shame he only got
an average of 12 or so in the last 5 ODIs he's played. The pressure of
success I guess.

England finally one a footy game, so hoorah for that. We might actually
get to the World Cup this time - as long as Sven keeps his tackle to
himself.

Met my old school pals last night, twas a nice evening.

And a final mention to the weather. BRING IT ON! Sunshine in London in
September - wicked!

To be fair to Mr. Dravid, he has played those ODIs as a 'keeper/batsman, which is bound to affect anyone's average. That and India have hardly been covering themselves in glory in these games, have they? He's the number #1 batsman in the world at the moment, and I think deservedly so.

And on the subject of Kelly Holmes, not only is she not Asian, but her mum and all her sisters are all white. Aren't genes funny things? She's still an absolute star though, and her winning the 800m is one of my happiest sporting memories. Fantastic.

Kelly's 800m and 1500m Golds are an amazing achievement. Not to diminish Khan's Silver at such a young age, but medal-colour aside, we are talking about a different game altogether.

The 800 and 1500 track community are seasoned and awesome professionals. I know very little about boxing, and I presume they too are quite well trained. But in the scheme of things, to win both the 800 and 1500 in one Olympic Games is pretty much top notch.

A silver by a British 17 year old is great, but two golds at 800 and 1500 by a British Woman is absolutely amazing. The entire athletic community agrees, hence the adoration she received. And well deserved too.

Aye. Big up Kelly Holmes. But controversially, I don't think hers was the biggest UK achievement of the games - I think that belongs to Matthew Pinsent. To win golds four games on the trot in an event that involves physical endurance (as opposed to, say, archery) is astonishing. Will be interesting to see if he goes on to equal or beat Steve Redgrave's record, but all signs at present are that he won't even try for it.

Thats a posh sport. Posh people are able to do whatever they want. Running is a poor persons event, as exhibited by the running-away-from-muggers training that kids go through. So Kelly is a working britain's heroine. Pinset is a posh britains well-to-do chap.

    heh.

Maybe so, but for running and rowing, you've got have unerring determination and just throw yourself at it, to the exclusion of... well, a life basically. The fact that rowing is a posh sport is an indictment on the sporting world rather than Matthew Pinsent specifically.
