sludge is good for ya

is the news you read and watch really news?

do you know what advertorials are?

what about lobby groups discretely funded by corporations?

the best pr ends up looking like news. you never know when u r being manipulated, u just end up forming an opinion based on it.

buy it.

I take the news with little more than a grain of salt; I've seen how badly things can be twisted first hand. I always find myself wondering just how much is true, and how much is slop.

    Hey hey!

If you're getting back into the old blogblog thing, isn't it time you updated the links in your sidebar?

    ;)

OK OK, I'll update the links. I can't help if the world changes, its like that man. IT systems are notorious for staying outdated and old fashioned.

    Blurgh.

I get most of my news from the bbc website these days but I'm always surprised by the differences in the UK and International versions.

When I was in Dublin a few years back, I remember watching the news and thinking "wait a minute, when did this event happen?".

It hadn't been covered at all in the UK news.

    hello mate.

As a historian, I always take things like the news with a pinch of salt. We live in a nanny state at the best of times, and the BBC isn't called "auntie" for nothing.

    Some links for you:

    Sometimes I despair.

But not often. I'm a cynical optimist, I reckon.
